By Saturday night, former Madisonville-North Hopkins swimmer Maggie Davenport boasted enough first-place awards to hang from each finger on a single hand.
Davenport, a junior at Transylvania University, captured three individual titles and two team relay wins during the Pioneers' two separate meets on Friday and Saturday.
With Davenport's effort on Saturday, Transylvania defeated Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) to claim the Heartland College Athletic Conference regular season championship.
During the meet, Davenport bested all swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.37) and 200-yard back (2:21.30).
The junior also participated on the first-place 200-yard medley relay team with former North swimmer Claire Dorris. Davenport began the relay while Dorris finished it.
On Friday against Sewanee: The University of the South (Tenn.), Davenport also won the 100-yard back (1:04.14). In that race, she defeated her closest competition by six and one-half seconds. Davenport also swam on the first-place winning 200-yard medley relay team.
Dorris also experienced a fair share of success during both meets, which helped the Pioneers efforts to take the HCAC title.

On Friday, Dorris finished second on a 200-yard freestyle relay team and individually she took fifth in the 500-yard free (5:54.67). The next day, Dorris earned a pair of third-place honors in the 200-yard free (2:10.05) and 500-yard free (5:52.70).
Four former North male swimmers also played a pivotal part in Transylvania's conference championship.
Daniel, Joseph and Stephen Porter and Yunan Yang joined forces to take third place in the 200-yard medley relay in Saturday's meet against Rose-Hulman. The group finished less than one second behind the second-place team.
Individually, Joseph boasted the highest honor with his first-place 400-yard relay team time of 3:26.22. The freshman also received fourth in the 100-yard free (:54.68).
Daniel and Stephen each had a pair of third and fourth-place finishes in other various events while Yang notched a third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.97).
Against Sewanee, Joseph, Stephen and Yang teamed up on the 200-yard medley relay and claimed third.
Joseph earned another first place with his participation on the 200-yard free relay squad. He also swam in the 50-yard free (fifth, :24.14).
Daniel took part in the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.87) and Stephen completed the 100-yard back (third, 1:00.52).
Yang snagged a couple of fourth-place honors in the 100-yard breast (1:04.15) and 200-yard free relay team.
Auburn swimmer Emile Ewing, also a North graduate, captured a pair of fifth-place finishes on Saturday against nationally ranked Florida.
Ewing came away with fifth-place honors in the 200-yard free (1:50.38) and 100-yard free (:51.12). Both times earned a single point for her team.
The Tigers' women's team entered the meet ranked fifth nationally, but lost 169-114 to the No. 6 Gators.
Men's basketball
Transylvania senior Brock Jones scored 11 points in each of the Pioneers' two wins last week.
Jones, who graduated from North, shot 4-of-6 from the field during his 15 minutes of action in Transylvania's 73-54 victory against Mt. St. Joseph (Ohio) on Wednesday.
Three days later, Jones scored another 11 on 4-of-8 shooting to help the Pioneers earn their fifth consecutive victory in a 69-55 win against Manchester College (Ind.). Transylvania led by as many as 21 points midway through the second half and is currently tied for first place in the HCAC.
Women's basketball
Angela Mullins tied a personal season-high by scoring 12 points in Murray State University's 60-51 win against Eastern Illinois University on Thursday.
Mullins, a former Hopkins County Central standout, knocked down 6-of-8 shot attempts to accompany three rebounds and three steals. Her effort helped the Racers leap the Panthers in the Ohio Valley Conference standings to take sole possession of first place.
On Saturday, Mullins made each of her three shot attempts for six points as Murray defeated Southeast Missouri State University to extend its winning streak to seven games. The Racers are undefeated in 2009 with an overall record of 13-6 and 8-1 in conference play.
Central grad Kari Jo Harris recorded 11 points in Lee University's (Tenn.) 117-60 victory against Reinhardt College (Ga.) on Thursday as the Lady Flames established a new single-game scoring record for the school.
Harris made 3-of-4 shot attempts, including her lone try from beyond the three-point arc and was one of six players to reach double figures.
Each of Harris' points proved vital despite the large-margin win because Lee narrowly edged the previous scoring record by one point, which was set during the 1988-89 season, a 116-51 conquest of Cincinnati Bible College.
During Lee's 81-70 win against Southern Polytechnic State University (Ga.) on Saturday, Harris, a freshman, recorded three points, two boards and two assists.
The Lady Flames currently rank No. 9 in NAIA national polls and first in the Southern College Athletic Conference standings.
For the first time of the 2008-09 season, the Brescia University Lady Bearcats won back-to-back games.
Former Webster County player Caitlin Owen posted four rebounds and two points in Brescia's 74-64 victory over Alice Lloyd College on Wednesday for the team's second win in a row.
Owen's Lady Bearcats led by 10 at halftime and increased the advantage to as many as 15 in the second half.
Brescia defeated Oakland City University (Ind.) 66-64 on Jan. 13 for its first win since Nov. 14.
The squad will look to make it three consecutive when the Lady Bearcats next play 7 p.m. today at McKendree University (Ill.).
